Rajab is the 7th month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered one of the four sacred months in Islam, during which warfare is traditionally prohibited. It holds special significance in Islamic history, particularly in Shia Islam, where certain events and practices are associated with it.
In Shia Islam, the 13th of Rajab is the birthday of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS), the first cousin of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the first Imam in Shia Islam. Imam Ali is regarded as a key figure in both Sunni and Shia traditions, but his life and teachings have particular importance for Shia Muslims. Imam Ali was born in the Kaaba in Mecca, making his birth unique and significant. His life is marked by his piety, justice, courage, and his close relationship with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). On this day, Shia Muslims commemorate his birth with special prayers, gatherings, and celebrations.
